SNAP Job Opening with the SLO Police Department

The City of San Luis Obispo is currently accepting applications for Student Neighborhood Assistance Program (SNAP) workers in the Police Department. Under the general supervision of the Student Neighborhood Assistance Program coordinator and the functional supervision of the on-duty Police Department Watch Commander, SNAP personnel act as first responders to general noise complaints throughout the City, residential parking district enforcement, tag abandoned vehicles for tow and provide graffiti abatement.

This job entails meeting 1v1 with homeless or potentially homeless youth (ages 16-24) and establishing an action plan with them in hopes of becoming self-sufficient and living independently. While working for a small non-profit organization means wearing many hats, this task will take up a majority of the work-day.

Sociology Senior Malcolm Mills will represent
Cal Poly on the Panetta Institute for
Public Policy’s Congressional Internship Program.
Malcolm Mills, a sociology major from Rancho Cucamonga is Cal Poly’s 2016 representative to the Panetta Institute for Public Policy’s Congressional Internship Program.
Mills, 21, will spend two weeks in August training at the Panetta Institute at CSU Monterey Bay, followed by 11 weeks in Washington, D.C., working full time in the office of a congressional representative.

The department reception will be held at the foot of the steps of the Kennedy Library starting at 11:45am.
